Perfect indoor climate, always

Aerefy’s smart ventilation valves continuously monitor indoor air quality and adjust airflow based on real-time needs. By reducing airborne pollutants, they enhance employee well-being and boost productivity. Parameters such as humidity, temperature, CO₂, and VOC levels are constantly assessed to ensure optimal ventilation.

Hotel experience could be better

There are dedicated youtube channels that show how ventilation in hotels is often not meeting the expectations. Problems include noise, wrong temperature, draft, too high CO2 concentration and sometimes also high humidity in bathrooms.  There are many ways to improve the experience. One of them is Aerefy, that will return the investment in 2 years.

220m2 family house with existing central ventilation upgraded to Demand Controlled Ventilation- this can not be done using any existing technology. Results are stunning! Base ventilation energy need dropped to just 60W of consumed power while house full of people takes 3x of this amount supplying enough air to keep CO2 levels at 1000ppm or less.  Read more>

At our offices and homes two different type of ventilation is often mixed. Restrooms and kitchens have ventilation system designed according to displacement ventilation principles while all other rooms are mixing type of ventilation. This article sheds some light about the differences and what are the benefits both principles.  Read more >

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is super important because we spend around 90% of our time indoors, whether it’s at home, work, or school. Poor air quality inside can have a big impact on both your health and comfort—sometimes in ways that aren’t immediately obvious.

What defines good indoor air quality?

There are several measurable parameters that define indoor air quality. While we can sometimes sense poor air—like stuffiness or odors—some harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide and radon, are completely undetectable without sensitive sensors.  Read More >

Energy Performance of Buildings Directive  requires all new buildings to be zero -emission from 2030 onward (2028 for public buildings). Ventilation plays important role in achieving this. Demand Controlled Ventilation is one of the easiest to implement in achieving this goal improving energy efficiency both summer and winter.

Solar panels are typical approach, but not always viable option, due to the architectural or locational constraints. Also, during sunny days there is overproduction of electricity, which makes PV useless.  Demand Controlled Ventilation is useful all the times adjusting the ventilation according to the demand peaks and lows.

Aerefy valves measure the indoor air quality at the spot and only replace contaminated air thus giving over 35% of energy savings.

Typically every hotel with mechanical ventilation can be upgraded!

SMART VENTILATION

Upgrade your ventilation

Typical static ventilation system in the Hotel can be upgraded to Variable Air Volume system. Typical rooms have exhaust in the bathroom and fresh air supply in the living room. Aerefy valve is plug-in replacement of the existing exhaust valve. Fresh air supply remains the same. For powering either Power over Ethernet or 24V power supply is used. All valves are cloud-connected through either wired or wireless access, which gives the hotel operator control over settings and complete visibility of the air quality in every room of the Hotel . Whatever the central ventilation system, it will bring both savings and better indoor air quality.

Aerefy valves are smart and independent. They analyse the indoor air quality and adjust the ventilation need according to CO2, humidity and temperature to make you feel good.

Aerefy Cloud gives you access to the room air quality measurements wherever you are and you can change the settings on the go.

GET BETTER INDOOR AIR AND SAVE

Standalone wireless system for retrofit

  • Aerefy smart valves will automatically start ventilating, when indoor air quality drops below set values.
  • It measures CO2, VOC, humidity, temperature and movement.  Central dashboard will inform about the need of battery change. Battery lasts up to 1-2 years with one charge.
  • It works with any existing ventilation system, some ventilation units may require automation upgrade.

Centrally managed wired cloud system for new buildings or reconstructions

  • Aerefy valves fit round duct sizes until 200mm. Larger ducts shall have Aerefy Damper installed.
  • Aerefy Cloud stores air quality data for web and app access, analytics, control and configuration.

Needs based ventilation

Standalone wireless grills measure presence, temp, VOC, CO2 and humidity to open or close the valve automatically. All rooms are only ventilated when needed.

Decentralised automation

Every valve has intelligent algorithms to guarantee the best possible indoor air quality and energy consumption balance. It is edge intelligent system, all settings are saved on the valves, guaranteeing efficiency and fault-tolerance. Due to the very low power consumption, it can also be run on back-up power for days.

Smartly ventilated rooms, means less humidity is ventilated out in regions with colder climates and winter times. Humidity control is crucial for human health.

In colder climates indoor humidity is defined by the temperature and absolute humidity difference between indoors and outdoors. If outdoor relative humidity is at RH=90% at 0 °C, then the indoor humidity will be around 25% at 20 °C. That's physics.

Humidity recovery can not return more absolute humidity than there is humidity indoors or outdoors. Therefore ventilation systems with humidity recovery only help to retain the indoor absolute humidity. Even if there is humidity generation indoors, finally it will still return to the base level after some time. Therefore ventilation systems with humidity recovery do not really help much and the equilibrium will be approximately same as with the ventilation without humidity recovery.  Ventilation standards require minimum ventilation even for the unoccupied rooms, therefore in general, systems with or without humidity make no big difference. Without humidity generation the final humidity levels will be the same. There is no excess humidity to recover as indoors is already a dry place.

Better result comes when humidity recovery is combined with Aerefy smart ventilation that reduces ventilation to minimum when humidity or CO2 level are below set levels, ie RH<40...50% or CO2<700...800ppm.

Elevated CO2 levels can lead to a stuffy indoor air and potentially diminish the quality of the sleep.

“A person spends about a third of their life sleeping, and high sleep quality is very important for health. Environmental factors are one of the most important factors affecting sleep quality, and indoor carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration while sleeping has a significant effect on sleep quality. “

*The Influence of Bedroom CO2 Concentration on Sleep Quality

Aerefy reduces ventilation when CO2, humidity and contaminants levels are in control. This will reduce overall energy consumption for the ventilation up to 3x and save about 35% heating or cooling energy. Whenever there are more people, Aerefy will increase ventilation so, that indoor air quality never exceeds the norms.

People spend about 90% of their time indoors. About 20% of people report health issues due to the insufficient indoor air quality. CO2 levels 1000–1500 ppm already result Noticeable reduction in decision-making performance, attention, and concentration for many people.
